While you are completing your Professional Training, we will be evaluating your performance in order to help you with your future plans in the industry. The professional staff at Scuba World commits in providing employment opportunities for those candidates that meet our high educational standards.

INCENTIVES

If you are completing your Divemaster program with Scuba World and continuing your education or if you are already a Divemaster, you can earn some money, while participating in your professional training. Since we have left weekends free, you are able to earn Divemaster fees working at one of our resorts or dive facilities.

INDUSTRY EMPLOYMENT Q&A

Q: How soon after becoming an Instructor can I expect to be employed?

A: This depends on how picky you are and what you want to do. Most dive instructors plan ahead and have a job waiting for them when they finish the IE. But it can take up to a month to find work in some cases depending on location.

Q: Are the jobs available?

A: Depending on seasonality, you can get work in any part of the world. Most new Instructors travel abroad to such places as Australia, SE Asia, The Caribbean and the Red Sea to get experience. Our experienced Professional staff can help you out with information and contacts.

Q: How much money will I make as a new Instructor?

A: Generally, it depends on where you want to go in the world. There are some fantastic opportunities that provide room and board and expense money but little else in some of the best diving in the world. On the other side of things, you could work in an established dive facility and earn somewhere around $20,000 per year. As with everything else, it depends what you want to do in the industry.

Q: Do Dive Companies generally provide housing?

A: Depending again on where you are in the world, some companies do provide housing and some don’t. Before you accept employment make sure you ask your employer about housing and if there is none supplied, ask where you can live when you first arrive and what would the best way to get a place to live be.

Q: How do I get a work permit?

A: When you are hired on with a company, they will generally let you know the requirements for a work permit or they will get one for you. Make sure you always have a valid passport and check out the immigration website for that country.

Q: Do couples have a more difficult time finding employment?

A: There are a lot of places worldwide that want couples for various jobs. However, be prepared to work and live in close quarters.

Q: What if I get a job with a company and everything goes wrong?

A: This can happen, like any job in the world. Take a deep breath, evaluate the situation, decide what to do and mostly follow your instincts. If you are not happy, there is probably a reason! Remember, always get a return ticket wherever you go, you can always go home.
